Dr Paul Deratnay aims to provide individuals with a comfortable and relaxing environment  where we strive to exceed your expectations through professional results and our friendly staff. He is dedicated to making a difference by providing exemplary dental care. He knows that it takes more than just good technique to be a great dentist. It also takes commitment, understanding, and most importantly, a genuine interest in patient health and safety.

Dr. Deratnay graduated from the University of Toronto in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree and in 1990 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. That same year he began practicing in Forest Hill.  He enjoys expanding his knowledge and skills by consistently taking continuing education courses and has been a member of the Crown and Bridge Study Club since 1991.

He has competed provincially, nationally and internationally in squash tournaments since the age of 12. Golf and tennis are other passions of his.

Dr. Taneil Barlow

Dentist

Dr. Barlow was born and raised in rural Saskatchewan and moved to Sakatoon to study biochemistry at the University of Saskatchewan where she received her Bachelor of Science. She continued her education, after a year of travel, earning her Doctor of Dental Medicine in 2012 from the University of Saskatchewan College of Dentistry. Shortly after convocation, Dr. Barlow moved to Ottawa to begin practicing as a general dentist. In July 2018, after 6 years of practice in Ottawa, she moved with her husband to Toronto. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry particularly esthetic/cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Barlow is also a certified Invisalign provider. 

In her spare time, Dr. Barlow enjoys travelling, spending time outdoors, hiking or lounging at the beach in the summer and skiing in the winter. She and her husband have settled into midtown life and are expecting their first child this spring. 

Barb

Office Administrator

Barb has been greeting patients at the front desk and on the phone for over 20 years. Barb loves to spend time at her cottage with her husband, 4 children and 3 grandchildren.

Tanya

Office Administrator

Tanya is our dental office administrator with a level II dental assisting background. She has been part of our team since 2009 and has enjoyed working chairside with Dr Deratnay for over 12 years before transitioning into an administration role in 2021. Tanya attended York University and then graduated from the Dental assisting program at George Brown College. She is a mother to two beautiful children and in her spare time she enjoys cooking, entertaining and travelling. She always looks forward to meeting you and assisting with any questions or concerns regarding your oral health needs. 

Jenny

Dental Assistant

Jenny has been an assistant since 2002 having completed courses at the Toronto School of Business and Everest College. She has been part of Dr Deratnay’s team since 2014.  In her free time she enjoys watching movies, doing yoga and spending time with her husband and young daughter.

Paulina

Hygienist

Paulina began her career as a dental assistant at George Brown College. She went on to complete her education as a Dental Hygienist at Niagara College.  She is a professional member of the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association and holds current certification in First Aid and CPR.  She has worked in private practice for 25 years, 8 of those with Dr. Deratnay.  She enjoys yoga, traveling and spending quality time with her family and friends in the city and up north. 

Carolyn

Hygienist

Carolyn is a registered dental hygienist who actively pursues continuing education courses in order to provide her patients with the best possible care.  She truly enjoys her profession and taking great care of her patients. She is a professional who believes in wellness through healthy eating, running and other fitness pursuits. Carolyn keeps busy with her 3 university aged kids and Bailey, her golden retriever. She believes in having a very positive outlook on life!

Susie

Hygienist

Susie has been part of Dr Deratnay’s team since 2008.  She began her career as a Preventive Dental Assistant before becoming a Registered Dental Hygienist.  She is a big advocate of continually educating her patients on how to improve their oral health and explains the link between oral and systemic health. She enjoys spending time with her husband and three young children when not at work. 

Melanie

Hygienist

Melanie is a Registered Restorative Dental Hygienist who has been practicing for 28 yeares and has received her credentials from the University of Manitoba, George Brown College and Cambrian Colllege. Melanie has practiced in pediatric, general, restorative and orthodonic practices and has worked in the Northern Ontario communities of Sult Ste. Marie, Timmins and North Bay and is currently living in Toronto with her husband and three children.
Melanie is a previous Regional Director for the Ontario Dental Hygiene Association and has authored and created three dental education books for children which are used in pediatric offices in Canda, US, Mexico and Argentina. These books are available in English and Spanish.
Melanie enjoys travelling with her family and spending summer weekends at the family cottage in Haliburton.
